Why does a company say a model declined?
Because it did, and that is the answer rather than a gap. The discounted-cash-flow model declines on most of the universe: banks have no capital-expenditure line to discount, and a filer whose three-year median free cash flow is not positive has nothing to grow from. Rather than substitute a number it cannot support, MeritValue states the refusal and its reason.
A company where every model declines does not count against the free monthly allowance.
Why do I have to type the price myself?
MeritValue holds no market-data licence, so it never shows a live quote. Fair value comes from the filings; the price is yours to supply, and the expected return is computed against the number you entered.
What does the free tier include?
Five companies per calendar month, with no account and no card. Companies you have already opened this month stay free to re-read, refusals cost nothing, and search is never metered. The allowance resets on the first.
MeritValue Analyst ($9.99/month or $69.99/year in the US) removes the limit and adds the full-universe screener. Manage or cancel it in your Apple Account settings — see Terms for the renewal terms.
I subscribed and the app still shows a limit
The purchase unlocks the app immediately, and the server catches up a moment later when the store confirms it. If it has not cleared after a minute, pull to refresh. If it still has not, use Restore on the subscription screen, then email the address above.
Coverage and corrections
Roughly 6,000 US filers with SEC filings, refreshed nightly. Foreign filers report in their own currency, and every figure on a company page can be traced to the filing it came from. If a number looks wrong, send the ticker and the figure — filing-level provenance means a correction is checkable rather than a matter of opinion.
